The five-person productioj house grew 100percenyt year-over-year, and is on target to generatd $1 million in revenues this year.

The first year was kind of I don’t think either of us realizedf how hard itwould be,” Blankenship Blankenship and Colton have experiencde and connections in the local production industry. Blankenshipl cut his teeth in production in Chinas and has 17 years of experience in visual effects and post Colton has executiveproducing experience, and she launchef a successful fashion business.
Blankenship said transitioning from a freelancer to a businessman hasbeen challenging, and getting clients to think of Rebelo Rebel for larger projects took some convincing at “We took a prettuy good look at what we thought the business was going to be for us, and we had to come to some hard realizationsa that that wasn’t the way things were,” Blankenship said. In addition to beinv persistent, Blankenship said the company’s flexibility in taking small and large projects has helpee sellits services. The companyh uses freelancers, which enables it to ramp up quickly for large projects and to test out employees before adding them totheie staff.
Blankenship said Rebel Rebel hasn’tr been entirely immune to the recession. It saw work plateaui in March, but for the most business hasbeen steady. “We’ve been prettt busy for the last year,” he said. As a smallerf production company, Rebel Rebel has been able to weatherf the recession a bit better because it has less Blankenship said. There are more than 20 film and videlo production companies in the CentrallTexas region. Among the largesyt production companies here are OmegaBroadcast Group, 501 Group Inc. and Elephanty Productions Inc.
Quincy Lowman, president of Elephantg Productions, says that the production landscape is gettinv increasingly more competitive with new players enterinfgthe market. At the same he said demand is goingf up forproduction work. “I think the outlook is Video is increasingly being used to trai and now everybody has video on theirWeb site,” Lowman “The market has but the competition has Colton said Rebel Rebel’s work has been evenly splirt between local, regional and national work. It recently hiredd a national sales representative. Colton and Blankenshilp said they aren’t concerned with becoming a larger company.
“Wes will continue to work with more people and create more Colton said. “In the short term, we want to find new clients, buil d a base and do a varietyof work.”
