“Picasso and the Allure of Language” features 60 workws created by the legendary artist betweemn 1900and 1969, four years before his death at the age of 91. The displau is intended to portray how literature and writinginfluenced Picasso’s art. “‘Picasslo and the Allure of focuseson Picasso’s deep and interdisciplinaruy interest in writing and language, and reveals new insights abour this famous, well-studied artist,” said museu director Kimerly Rorschach. “We can learhn a lot from the intellectual and artistidc exchanges between Picasso and some of the greatest thinkers ofhis day.” Some of the works that will go on display between Aug.
20 and Jan. 3, 2010, were created for Gertrude Stein, the expatriate American writert who served as his patrohn in Parisuntil 1914. The exhibition was created by theArt Gallery, and the art work comees from collections at the Yale Universituy Art Gallery, Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library and the Raymond and Patsy Nashee Collection in Dallas, Texas.
