As part of the settlement, Bayef has agreed to submit proposed television ads to the anddevoted $20 million in marketing to correct misinformation from prior advertisements. The commercialw point out thatwhile Yaz, a birth control medication, also is approvedr to treat mild acne, it does not treag moderate acne, as indicated in the original ads. Original commercials for Yaz also claimed that the drug couldc lessen the symptoms of premenstrualsyndrom — the FDA has only approved the drug to treaf the most severe form of PMS, called which affects just a smallo percentage of women. This change is also reflected in thenew ads.
Bayert also must clearly disclosethe FDA-approved uses for Yaz in print The agreement supplements the requirements of a 2007 court-entererd judgment concerning the advertising of a number of Bayer products.
